Great museum explaining the history of Islam. My personal tour guide was awesome. I would recommend this attraction to others wanted to know more about Islam/Muslin culture.

If you're looking for an objective, thoughtful, insight into Muslim culture you won't find it here. Having been to the middle east, Turkey, and south central Asia, there is no one, single Muslim culture. Turkey, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan are all predominantly Muslim, yet they share very little culturally. This museum at most provides someone's opinion of an imaginary singular Muslim culture, free from most historical or modern day realities. Waste of time.

Great place to take family and spend time learning about another culture. Exhibits are always informative and well thought out to highlight a greater understanding and appreciation for the muslim culture and faith.

In the heart of the Bible Belt, who would expect a museum on Muslim culture? It's not that easy to find, but if you see the bigger banner sign on the building next to the Jackson Convention Center, its in there on the second floor. The cost of admission is kind of high at $13, but it's the cost of keeping the museum open when there aren't that many visitors. The museum has some interesting exhibits on how Spain was influenced by the Muslims, how Timbuktu was the educational hub of the Middle Ages, and how musical instruments from the Muslim world have affected current popular music. If you don't know a whole lot about Muslim culture, this is a great place to learn it. It's not the most polished museum, and certainly could use more funding, but it's still a worth a visit.
